The approach to New Year’s Eve and 2019 is an exciting one, and it’s just a few days away! This is the one party that the entire world is invited to which makes it a great event, but it’s also important to remember that we need to keep our wonderful animal’s safe.
The sights and sounds of sparklers and fireworks are prevalent on New Year’s Eve. Unfortunately, it can end up causing many pets to become agitated and scared. Without the right care, pets can end up lost during and after the party.
To make sure this doesn’t happen, we have some helpful tips when it comes to keeping your animal(s) safe this New Year’s Eve:
1: Keep Tags On Your Pet:
Make sure your pet is wearing the right collar with identification tags that display the correct information. In case a pet gets loose, you’ll have a better chance of getting him or her back more quickly.
2: Keep The Party Away:
It’s important to keep all alcohol, the tasty festive food, chocolates, and party decorations away from your pets. If decorations are lodged into your pet’s intestines, this can lead to an intestinal blockage. Alcohol and chocolate can be toxic to both canines and felines.
3: Keep Indoors:
Depending on the animal, some pets are frightened from sudden loud noises. Keeping your pet indoors and in a quiet area that is familiar to him or her will have them feeling safe. Indoor animals should also be kept away from large windows or doors when they are scared to minimize the risk of them crashing through or into one of them.
4. Have A Calming Environment:
Keep everything the same by surrounding your pets with the favorite toys and other familiar objects. Whether it’s keeping the room as quiet as possible or playing soothing music, it’s important to keep everything consistent for your pet.
We wish you a safe and enjoyable New Year’s Eve and a fulfilling year ahead! Remember to keep a watchful eye on your pet and have the name and number of your local animal emergency clinic in a convenient area.
